Day at the Zoo

Dan's parents and Marsh & Emily came to Salt Lake to visit us for Dan's birthday. Despite temperatures over 100 degrees, we ventured out to the Hogle Zoo and had a great time!

This white alligator is one of only 10 in the world!

I was also playing around with the Macro setting on my camera and took some good closeups of some flowers.

Anniversary Celebrations

Can you believe we've been married 4 years already?!?

We spent our anniversary cruising around Yellowstone National Park & Grand Teton National Forest, then drove home through Jackson Hole, WY.

On the drive up to Yellowstone, we stopped in Rexburg, Idaho, so Dan could show me his old college stomping ground. We also stopped to see the progress on the Rexburg temple. Pretty impressive!

Our first night was spent at Mack's Inn, ID. There are several reasons why I don't camp, and Mack's Inn pretty much reinforces all of them. Even though we stayed in the "lodge", I still consider this camping. Here's some proof:

Despite less than stellar accomodations the first night (we had no idea what we were getting into. In fact, when I called to make the reservation, the man told me they had been "recently renovated." Hmmm...), we had a great time at Yellowstone Park! Here are some of our favorite pictures.

Some might say I went overboard with the pictures, but this was my first time to Yellowstone! (OK, so maybe 553 pictures in 3 days is a little over the top...)

Proud to be an American!!

Chrystal.....

You Are 81% American

You're as American as red meat and shooting ranges.
Tough and independent, you think big.
You love everything about the US, wrong or right.
And anyone who criticizes your home better not do it in front of you!

And Dan ....

You Are 95% American

You're as American as red meat and shooting ranges.
Tough and independent, you think big.
You love everything about the US, wrong or right.
And anyone who criticizes your home better not do it in front of you!

Fun in the Sun

The Utah summers have caught us all by surprise. It has been in the high 90's and over 100 degrees for the past 2 weeks, with no end in sight. Last weekend, we had some fun with Bentley & Bella in the backyard. Bentley loved the water! Bella, however, was a little more timid.

Here, Bentley tries to "drink" from the hose.... unsuccessfully....

But Bella perfers the pool.

Hopefully, the weather will break soon, and we'll be able to cool down to "normal" summer temperatures. Until then, we know how to keep the puppies happy!!

Heather and Chris Tie the Knot

We were very happy to share in Heather & Chris's special day on Saturday, June 9, 2007. Here are a few pictures commemorating the event.

We wish Heather and Chris Hale a long and happy marriage!!

On Wisconsin!

We spent the week of May 12-20 visiting family and friends in Wisconsin. The trip was good... except for the departing flight out of Salt Lake. We had mechanical problems, which delayed us, causing us to miss our connection in Denver. We finally arrived in Milwaukee 3 hours late. Poor Mom and Bruce had to pick us up at midnight! We got to their house in Grand Marsh at 2:30 am.

The next day, Dan and I went to the Wisconsin Dells for my 10 year high school class reunion. Hard to believe that it's been 10 years! We met up with Adam & Mary, Michelle & Dan, Christi & Josh, Melissa & Eric, and Chris & Natasha before the main event for some miniature golf at Pirates Cove. The weather was very warm and some of us got sunburned!

Here are some pictures from the reunion at Pedro's Restaurant!

From L to R, starting in the front: Mary, Adam, Melissa (peeking), Eric, Christi, Josh, Chris, Natasha, Amy(?), and Ben.

It was very nice to catch up with everyone - it's amazing how fast time flies! I hope it's not another 10 years before we can see each other again!

******

The next day (Sunday) my mom held a big open house on Mother's Day for the family. It was the first time in a long time that I have seen my cousins and their spouses & children, plus my aunts and uncles. Even though it was rainy, we had a good time!

A few days later, Dan and I met up with Jaime Penaflor for brunch. Jaime is now living in Madison, soon to move into his new house in Sun Prairie! We are very excited for him! It was super nice to catch up with Jaime, too, who has been busy with work (2 jobs) and family.

***

Later that week, we went to Green Bay to visit my brother Kit, and his puppy, Nasha. We had a good time visiting with him, and he cooked us lunch on the barbeque grill.

Dan had to leave early to fly to San Francisco for work, so Mom, Bruce and I took advantage of the extra few days and went horseback riding. (Dan wouldn't have been able to go anyway, since he is allergic to horses)

This Max. He is the newest horse on the Borchert ranch. I rode him both days, and he was a lot of fun!

By the end of 2 days of riding, I felt like a real cowgirl!

<---- Here's mom on Trigger and me on Max. ... and Mom & Trigger and Bruce & Dollar.

This is Pard (Bruce's horse) with Pus (the Cat). Since Pard didn't get to go for a ride (he's only green broke), he was feeling lonely. Good thing Pus was there to keep him company!

All in all, we had a great time in Wisconsin! Thanks to Mom and Bruce for a very fun week!
