The problem is this: sometime during the move, I have lost my air popper.
So what to do?
Tonight I learned how to pop real popcorn - the old fashioned way - on the stove. And it turned out great. It brought back memories of when my grandpa used to make it that way. He actually grew his own popcorn in the garden, too. Impressive, huh? I don't think I'll be trying that any time soon!
Speaking of my grandfather, here we are together. Note the same bowl and everything. I love this photo. One of my all-time favorites.

That is a GREAT photo! What a neat memory.
Stovetop poppers also make really great popcorn, and much easier than in a pan on the stove. It takes about the same amount of time as the microwave, but sooo much better.

In the recipe book, the cinnamon crunch popcorn is especially good, yet still light. yummm!
I say this with love and on heavy meds, but did he own a horse and buggy?? Sorry, the beard makes him look Ahmish. It's an ADORABLE picture though.
no, no horse and buggy.
I actually don't remember him with the beard. by the time I can remember him, he had shaved it off (my grandma hated it!).
I'm growing a beard like that!
That is a great photo. I remember my dad used only an old fashion popcorn maker when we were growing up. Then he got into microwave popcorn and stopped doing it the greasy way. I miss the greasy way. Mindi airpops hers and I think the oil just adds too it. Fat that is!!!JK
Those are awesome pictures! I love how you matched the styles. Have you seen the oil that is made especially for popping your own popcorn? I haven't tried it but my friend loves it.
